Getting to Know Joe Annino
Joe Annino, an Italian‐American, grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and served his country in the US Air Force between 1952-1956. Shortly after that, he earned a B.F.A degree at Texas Christian University where he majored in Art education and minored in Spanish. Some might say, this is where his love of art began.
In 1967, he studied Studio Arts including drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking at the University of Miami and decided to focus on teaching once he was done. Over the years, Joe was a teacher, graphic illustrator and physical conditioning instructor, in locations that included Cupertino, Santa Cruz, and San Diego.
A Talented Artist
Not surprisingly, Joe has a fantastic range as an artist, and showcases the many different styles of his own art on the walls of his apartment. These days, he favors cartooning and has drawn many of his resident friends. His other focus is on creating interesting organic sculptures from elements found by the shore.
Artistic, Humorous & Philosophical…
With a passion for traveling this artist, also considers himself to be a gourmand. Over the years, he has had the pleasure of sampling great food around the world. Europe, Africa, India, Russia, China, South America and the Pacific are just a few of the places he’s been to.
Jazz music, ballroom dance, and exercising are a few other things that Joe finds interesting. He has a great sense of humor and an appreciation for anything that is funny. But he’s also a philosophical person. Compassionately awake, introspective, ingenuous, and of course humorous, are just a few words that describe him.
