Getting to Know Gerree Bonny
Gerree truly loves her life in La Jolla! Since she was a little girl, La Jolla has been her hometown. La Jolla holds so many memories for Gerree. It’s the place she met and fell in love with her husband, Maury, while attending La Jolla High School. They married at St. James and had their reception at the La Valencia.
Family was the center of her life…
Gerree is the proud parent of three children. Their son Craig, who lives here in San Diego is now retired. He loves spending time in his garden and volunteering at the San Diego Zoo. Craig operates live zoo cams from his home. The Polar Bear cam is one of many zoom cams he oversees. Their daughter Dee Ann lives in Arizona with her husband, Charlie. Their daughter, Gale, is also part of the Chateau Family. She not only lives at the Chateau with her mother, but she is also the Concierge and Reception Director. This includes managing the reception desk, transportation, and mail services. When guests come to the Chateau Gale is the first person to greet them.
Gerree also has two grandchildren, Kurt and Matthew. Kurt is a lifeguard captain who lives in Oahu, Hawaii. Matthew is a computer whiz who lives in Little Rock Arkansas with his wife and three daughters.
Giving the gift of time…
Gerree devoted much of her life to helping others. She was a Pink Lady at Scripps Memorial, a Room Mother in La Jolla classrooms and a Girl Scout Leader. Today, she continues serving by knitting baby caps for the newborns at Scripps Hospital.
A Love for Travel…
Gerree loved traveling with her husband Maury after he retired. Over the years they explored several National Parks including Gerree’s favorite, Yosemite. Through the United States and Canada, often in their motor home, Gerree and Maury explored all they could. They shared much of it with their youngest daughter, Gale. She joined them in visiting the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Yellowstone, and Victoria, Canada. Gerree and Maury also went on many wonderful cruises, their favorite being a Riverboat Cruise in Europe.
Living at Chateau…
Gerree enjoyed several years at Chateau with her beloved Maury. Since his passing, she continues to enjoy her wonderful view of the ocean with is sea birds, boats and even an occasional gray whale. She also loves to sit on the patio, enjoying the sun on her face.
