Resident Story Frank Schoen
To travel is to live…
Getting to Know Frank Schoen
Friendly and fun – that describes Frank Schoen! Chateau residents know him as a personable guy with a great sense of humor and a whistle that lets you know where he is! He calls himself a “Southerner” meaning he was born, raised, and educated in South Dakota. His wife is from South Vietnam and he currently lives in Southern California. But he adds, “I am still a DAMN YANKEE!”
Army Veteran…
He is an army veteran, having retired as a lieutenant colonel and having served in Vietnam, Germany, France, and Thailand. He continues now as a volunteer with for the Association of The United States Army and with The Military Order of World Wars.
Animal Lover & Tax Preparer…
He has been a registered tax preparer for 25 years who still offers help to Chateau residents. He and his wife have a daughter, Mickey Schoen, living in Redondo Beach and, of course, we cannot forget his dog Mia!
Despite using a walker, Frank enjoys walking and doing physical fitness. You can find Frank partaking in the wonderful sing-a-longs we have at Chateau La Jolla. A member of Toastmasters, Frank is a graduate of USD, class of 1953. That is, the University of South Dakota, NOT the University of San Diego!
To Travel Is To Live…
To travel is to take a journey into yourself, and that is exactly what Frank did! Over the years Frank has visited all 50 states including Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands! Okay Frank, we are jealous!
